Diane’s Spring Panache
Once again, our tribute to Diane Klonowski was a full day of fun, friendship, and Pétanque. Play began at 9:30 under the direction of Gail Hawkins. Teams played 2 games in the morning and 3 after lunch. Four teams completed the day with game 6. Tom Robinson and Jessica Lehman played Rickamer Hoover and Rob Trevena for first place. Michelle Commeryas and Pat Schlotzhauer played Dan Dolan and Heidi Davison for second place. #boules #petanque #athensga #competition
After a cold, wet, continuously raining day, Heidi and Tess Whitlock took 2nd in Consolante at the Mid-America Regional Women’s Doubles hosted by our great friends at Carolina Pétanque .
Congratulations to Al Davison who recently passed the FPUSA Regional Umpire test. Al began as one of our club umpires and has shown that he possesses the necessary interpersonal skills, a sense of fairness, and an aptitude for applying the rules of the game. Well done Al!
The Classic City Pétanque Club had 8 players in this past weekend’s FPUSA National tournaments hosted by our good friends at Atlanta Pétanque League We didn’t manage to bring home any medals or money this time, but we had a great time!

The Classic City Pétanque Club had a booth at the 25th Annual International Street Festival in Downtown Athens where club volunteers introduced the game to dozens of Athens residents and international students at the University of Georgia.
