Request of Funds for Prize Money for the SE Regional Women’s Doubles Tournament
Members of the Board reviewed a request from the SE Regional Women’s Doubles tournament directors in regard to using some funds from our treasury in order to provide a more equitable distribution of prize money. The question dealt with the fact that first and second place winners of Concours would receive medals and prize money. The third-place finishers in this category would receive just a medal. However, in the Consolante category, first place would receive a cash prize. It was thought that this did not seem fair to the Concours third place winners as this is a category placing higher than Consolante. The CCP board voted to approve (6-0) to provide the sum of $70 each to the two Concours third place winners. These funds will be disbursed to the players the weekend of June 6 and 7.
Regular play times on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays change to 10 a.m. beginning June 2, 2026. In addition, we will begin additional play on Wednesday and Friday evenings shortly. Please check back for information about the additional days to play our favorite sport – Pétanque!

On Saturday, April 11, we will be hosting our annual Diane’s Spring Panache. Play will begin at 10:00 AM, and we’ll play five games total.
Diane Klonowski was one of the founding members of our club. Those who knew her describe her as “straight talking, took no crap from anyone, but funny, kind, and generous.” She set the tone for our club’s culture—fairness, empathy, kindness, and a bit of tough love. Most importantly, she made sure everyone felt welcome.
We hold this annual panache not only to honor Diane, but also to celebrate the values she championed. At CCP, we promote good sportsmanship and respect for one another. All members are expected to welcome new players and help maintain a friendly, fun, and inclusive atmosphere.
Please plan to arrive by 9:30 AM so we can begin promptly at 10:00. We’ll play two games, break for lunch, and then finish the final three rounds.
Your “entry fee” is a small item worth about $10. This can be something you already own, a scratch-off ticket, a plant, a quirky piece of art you’re ready to rehome—anything you think would make a fun prize. The winner gets first pick, second place chooses next, and so on. We like it best when everyone goes home a winner.
